About Alene

Alene, born in Tacoma, Washington, is among the first Baby Boomers. After graduating from Bellevue High School in 1965, she balanced full-time work as an Insurance Claims Investigator with night classes at community college. Her passion for understanding people led her to study Psychology at the University of Washington.

Upon retiring in 2013, Alene embarked on a journey to uncover a long-standing family mystery—the disappearance of her great-grand aunt Beatrice, a well-to-do young widow who vanished in 1919 after marrying a gentleman she met on a train. What began as a personal quest soon evolved into the discovery of an incredible true crime story involving a serial killer at the turn of the 20th century.

Relocating to the Oregon Coast brought new adventures and a slower pace of life. Alene and her husband, Jim, cherish walks on the beach, the beauty of towering evergreens and wildflowers, and the company of friendly neighbors and nearby animals. She finds joy in writing, photography, genealogy, gardening, and the art of relaxation.

Looking ahead, Alene is excited to begin her next adventure: writing her memoir, weaving together the threads of her life and the mysteries she has unraveled.
